What Path Might We Take

Friday, July 2nd, 2010

I’m feeling a little better now and if I should jump again I think I know where to. Am I on a path of destruction? Sounds like fun to me. It’s not like I’m doing anything illegal.

I’ve got a plan of action for right now. Job wise, housing wise, etc. I just need some more time and MONEY. If only it were so easy.

I caught up on True Blood. That shit is addicting. I can’t stand but loooove the way they leave every episode hanging and then they pick it right up in the next. It’s perfect. Predictions – Tara hooks up with Jason but Jason goes back to whatchyamacallit town and finds the werepanther girl. Maybe she comes to Jason, who cares. The werewolves seem kind of weak which is disappointing thus far. Alcid is just meh. Hopefully they spice them up a bit. It seems to me that Sookie is thinner and more gaunt this season. Like her face is showing some age. I don’t know but something seems really different. I’m not sure how much down time was between shoots, they just finished not too long ago so maybe I can find an updated pic to compare to. Sam boy still seems alright, his character is more laid back now but getting caught up in family drama. I don’t care for this because I though only the first born could be full shifter. The gay vampires are a hoot. I’m sure that was easy for someone to write in. ;-) The best part was Erik banging that hot vamp chick for 6 hours straight. Dude’s my hero. Ha. Let’s not forget Pam going down on her too. Funny, over the top debauchery… I love it.

I love meeting new people. I’m getting bored with the current ones. Too immature. Is that wrong of me? I’m doing what I want. Fuck ‘em all. I have an appetite for destruction.

Updates

Wednesday, June 16th, 2010

Well, it’s been a week I guess. It seems like a blur. I’ve been working every day and learning new things for my job. The next 60 days ought to be interesting. Yesterday was tough. As soon as I walked in my manager asked what was wrong. The funny part was I didn’t even know something was wrong. I felt like blah going in but I didn’t even give it a thought, I try to leave my personal shit behind when I go into work. It sure did eat me up though even when I didn’t see it coming. I walked into the bathroom and just stared at the mirror. I about lost it and I have no idea why. I just don’t know if this is where I want to be at. Fucking weird. Am I slipping? What the hell is wrong with me?

The new season of True Blood started Sunday. I have yet to watch the episode. I’ve been busy, though I may watch it tonight depending on how I feel. I’ve been waiting forever to watch it.

The Celtics lost game 6 by a ton. Perkins went down with a sprain. The Celtics kept up the defense fairly well holding the Lakers at 42% shooting however Boston’s offense did not show up, missing a ton of easy shots and layups. I suspect Ray Allen and Paul Pierce will bring hell on Thursday night to take the series. I watched the game over at a friend’s parents’ house. They’re good folk and it’s fun to watch and talk with them. I haven’t decided where I’m watching game 7 yet though I got an invite back again.

I have yet to clean my abode. I know I’m in a funk, right now I feel indifferent about everything. I’m just numb to the world. On my days off I try to motivate myself to clean and then I find every excuse not to. This weekend I will not do that, I have to clean as I’m disgusted by my own mess. It’ll help lift this funk if only for a few hours.

I gave up on religion so I don’t want to even think about that. I’m tired of relationships or even trying at this point… my mind is way too busy for that. I need to start looking for places to move to for when I have enough money. I have to start paying down debt. I need to join the local gym so I can lift weights and hopefully they have an indoor track. The list goes on.

No one knows what it’s like. Some people can relate to similar things, sure.

Choke Out

Thursday, October 22nd, 2009

I went into work not feeling like doing shit. The machine was broke again and after spending 4.5 hours on it I gave up and went home early. That gave me from 1500 on to do whatever and with it being 70 and sunny, I opted to stay outside. What to do though? Well, it had been a while since I had a cigar so I got a glass of water, a Bolivar Cofradia No. 754, my dual torch lighter, cigar cutter, and put on some shorts and sat out on the deck. I smoked it for a good hour and twenty minutes down to the very end. It was very relaxing. I just sat outside thinking on what to do. I didn’t come up with a damned thing. I just have to take it a day at a time. I hate the uncertainty.

After that, I threw a football with my brother for about an hour. He stopped by and I was feeling energetic. So much so that I was going to go for a mile run. I don’t need to tell you that running after smoking isn’t a smart idea but fuck it. I barely made half a mile before resting for 2 minutes then running back a half mile. I was tired… not really out of breath but I figure I didn’t have a whole lot of oxygen in my system.

I went up to the roof right after to catch my breath and cool off and watch the sunset. Much to my dismay the clouds rolled in so I didn’t get to see much of anything. I went back inside and took a hot bath, I just soaked my legs for a good while before I showered. I watched the Ultimate Fighter and then watched “the Shining.” I forgot how looooooong that movie is. Jeez.

Rampage Jackson is such a dick. I don’t like him at all. He berates and berates. He is a horrible coach, he doesn’t build his guys up but merely talks smack about the opponents. It’s no wonder he is about to get sweeped just like last year. He kept calling Darrill “titties” even though his own boy Zac had bigger man boobs. Darrill is beastly for drinking that much alcohol especially when trying to get in shape to fight. Stupid. I wanted Zac to win, he’s a bit of a social outcast. He looked okay in the fight but kept his guard too low and took too many quick shots to the face. He had the nice and much needed takedown to escape defeat and he hammerfisted nicely. You could see how tired or dazed he was. He allowed himself to get into a triangle choke within Darrill’s legs. He held on for a long time but made no attempt to break it and Darrill finally got the extra leverage using his arm to help choke him out. Oh well. I like Rashad and I think he could easily kick Rampage’s ass especially since that pussy chickened out on the fight. (Rampage commented that Rashad wanted to hold on to the belt longer so he refused a fight. Riiiight, like he wanted to get his face destroyed by Lyoto Machida over your pansy ass… that totally makes sense.)

I slept in until 1000 today. I was happy about that. I got on my computer just fiddling around, putting off what I needed to do. There’s a song called “Breathe Into Me” by Red that I discovered and like. I finally got to writing a letter to Ms. Sexy X. Well, it was more of a poem I had written for her a while back. I have one more as well. I also sent her a long email about some stuff. I don’t know when she’ll read that as she doesn’t have access to it. I was going to send via regular mail but she won’t see that for a while and it didn’t feel right to send it through that. It took a little while for both things to get them perfect. Then I went to the hospital to fix some billing issues. I just got back and ate.

I’ve gotten a bunch out of the way today. I feel good to some extent. There’s a depression looming overhead so I can’t get too excited. I have to come up with ideas. Oy.

A new Vampire Diaries is on tonight. I like the show well enough but it’s a bit too… teen/high school/dramatic for my tastes. That said I read the books and they’re only loosely following them but I still enjoy watching them. True Blood doesn’t start again until next summer I think. So fucking far away.

True Blood S02E12: Beyond Here Lies Nothin’

Thursday, September 17th, 2009
I know I’m a bit late on posting this review but I’ve been busy lately and I only had a chance yesterday to rewatch the episode. I like to watch twice to make sure I don’t miss anything though I probably do.
  • The first half started off slow. Anna did a good job acting in this episode but little things bugged me here and there. She was showing anger but there was no stubbornness there. I would have thrown that stupid headdress thing off immediately. I would have tried to kick the egg out and definitely not licked it. Whose blood was that anyways?? I find it humorous that Jason and Andy got taken over but I wonder why it hadn’t happened much sooner? I can see her being more subdued after the threat to her brother but she didn’t seem as spunky as she should have been before that moment.
  • That whole queen scene was shown just so Erik and Sophie would be in the episode and probably had to do with just the actors getting a paycheck as there wasn’t a real need for it. Also, my initial thought was the crazy vampire bitch kidnapping Bill like the books have it but it could be Erik… that makes more sense. Why? Well given that scene and Erik “taking care of Bill” that would likely fall into play nicely with Ball wanting to keep the viewers guessing. It had to be a vampire, Bill didn’t sense whoever it was and they were wearing gloves to protect from silver. Erik could hire out too but I see him doing it personally.
  • Moving on, I’m glad Mary Ann is dead FINALLY. I’m not sure why Alan kept that up unless he was working his way up to something or just needed filler. I can’t imagine that since there’s plenty of material to work with. I was worried she might live on just because Sam morphed early and Tara saying she thinks it’s not over. Ugh. But I think it is done with. Eggs thankfully gets killed off. He annoyed me in every episode. He reminded me of a monkey, one that cries a lot. The one thing that will bite both Andy and Jason is the fact that he used someone else’s gun to kill Eggs which Andy now has even though he has no holster and no one saw him carrying a weapon and we’re not even sure he got his own weapon back yet… leaving potential gaping holes in his story. There is an implication here with Jason killing Eggs but no one knowing. I won’t say what it is but it’s actually quite obvious.
  • I wanted to gouge my eyes out when Hoyt’s mom was dancing and singing. “What the fuck” went through my head immediately. But the second half of the episode is where it is at because it sets everything up for season 3. Yup, I still wonder why the screen went black… to denote the second half which was more like a separate episode? Was it an introduction to Charlaine Harris’ cameo? Is there any significance behind it? Oh, if you didn’t notice, the writer of the Southern Vampire Mysteries herself makes a cameo midway through the show. The screen goes black and then it goes to Merlotte’s. Inside at the bar we see a red headed woman with glasses say “Well, I certainly never expected anything like that to happen here.” I didn’t notice the first go around and probably would have missed it on the second go. Ms. Sexy X pointed that one out to me. She’s sharp as a tack, I tell you.
  • I was glad to see Hoyt stomp out on his mom finally but sad to see him get stood up at Bill’s house. I really thought Jessica was going over there and to see her at the truck stop… damn. Not unexpected, she’s a young vamp and will feed uncontrollably. She didn’t have sex with the guy so maybe she’ll still stick with Hoyt. I’m not holding my breath here unfortunately. I hope they keep her on but I can see them killing her off next season. Hopefully I’m wrong on that account.
  • My favorite part of the episode was Sam going to find his parents. I’m super curious as to what that is all about. The whole adoptive parent scene was okay but I was getting built up for the rest. Obviously that’s next season. Oy. But so are the werewolves. :-)

So we FINALLY see the end of Mary Ann and the Mississippi plot now brewing. This season was alright, I don’t think it was as good as the first. I hope Alan doesn’t change up the 3rd season too much or if he does that it’s better. I’m really excited to see it but it’s mooooonths away.

I Hate Cell Phones

Monday, September 14th, 2009

I just got a dozen text messages from Ms. Sexy X. She’s been sending messages but either her carrier is delaying them big time or mine is. Either way, that pisses me off that I’m not getting them when she sends them. :-( I was super happy to get them though. :-) That’s certainly a great way to start off my morning! (I love cell phones, I guess I just loathe them. Ha.)

On to the NFL. Wow, what a day. Truthfully, I didn’t watch all the games. I just didn’t feel like it though I’ve seen all the replays now and I did watch some of the games.

The first game of interest was the Vikings/Browns game. I expected the Vikes to take it easy enough but the Browns did give them a run for their money for a while. But when you have Adrian Peterson, it’s pretty much over. He can be shut down though… if their defense was stronger I’d say they’d be real good Super Bowl contenders. The NFC is weak though so anything can happen (hell like the Cardinals going… hahaha!) AP had a sick run where he juked, stiff armed, and raced his way to a TD.

I’ve been telling folks that play fantasy football to pick up Drew Brees. The Saints may not be winning games but with 5,000 passing yards in last season alone, he’s a guarantee for points. Once again he rained the bombs down, this time all over the Lions. You knew that was coming. 358 yards and SIX touchdown passes…You’re looking at 52 fantasy points off of him alone! He had a great pass and a great catch to tight end Jeremy Shockey who had the presence of mind to keep both toes in the goal and get possession of the ball with two defensive backs falling on him. Wow. I’ve also said to get Greg Jennings (or Donald Driver if GJ isn’t available.) Aaron Rodgers proves he can handle the Packers offense and those are his goto guys. In a West Coast Offense, you can expect major yardage and touchdowns from them both. They dismantled the Bears yesterday. Somehow it managed to be a close game even though the douche that is Jay Cutler got picked FOUR times. Crazy, huh? He’s garbage. Unfortunately for them, Brian Urlacher had a season ending wrist injury. Ouch. Rodgers ended the game with a play action pass to a wide open Jennings. The safety read run and bit leaving a stumbling corner who had trouble all game to begin with to handle the veteran receiver. He launched the pass and that’s all she wrote!

I was watching the Broncos/Bengals game only slightly. The Bungles always get air time around here which sucks. I wasn’t too interested as both teams are garbage. I will say this, the Broncos won it off a tipped pass intended for Marshall and Stokley was there to grab the tip and run it all the way down to the one yard line where he showed his veteran abilities by running parallel to the goal line to drain every last second he could before waltzing in for the TD. I’m glad they lost, Chad Johnson pisses me off as does Marvin Lewis.

Speaking of 4 picks, Jake Delhomme threw 4 interceptions and had a fumble yesterday. His backup threw a pick and then the 3rd string backup threw a pick. Wow. I sure hope no one had him on their team else they’re looking at major negative points.

I watched the episode of True Blood last night. I’ll get around to posting about that later. Right now I’m outside tanning. It was slow at first but I was glad to finally see an end to the Mary Ann saga.

I saw a news blurb about Kanye West taking the microphone away from Taylor Swift at the VMAs. He’s one of the biggest douches out there. I rank him down there with Sean Penn, Chris “Woman Beater” Brown, and Jay Cutler just to name a few. He embarrassed Beyonce who got up there to accept a later award and she invited Swift back out on stage so she could properly accept. There’s a class act though I would have went one step further to denounce West. He doesn’t deserve a damned thing that he has.

My abs hurt today. It’s been a while since I did pull ups and I pushed myself too hard yesterday. My arms are sore too.

I feel okay today. I still have a slight lingering cough which is pissing me off because there’s no reason to be coughing anymore. I’m a tad sore, a wee bit tired, but I’m feeling good in spirit. I did get to talk with Ms. Sexy X the other day regardless of it getting cut short. True that pisses me off but I’ll take what I can get. It’s also true that I’m pissed about all the text messages getting delayed but I did get them and they did make me laugh. So overall, I’m happy to a certain extent. I miss her so much. Sigh.

A Few Tidbits

Sunday, September 13th, 2009

I haven’t gotten a call from Ms. Sexy X today though I’ve tried. I think maybe she’ll call tonight but I don’t know. I feel good to some extent. I’m still ticked off at not getting to talk with her longer but what can you do? Sigh.

The final episode of the season of True Blood is tonight. (S02E12: Beyond Here Lies Nothin’) It’s starting now actually. I can’t wait. :-) I’ll post about it later, probably sometime tomorrow.

I went outside today and tanned for two hours. It seemed to work a little bit though I may give it another go a few more times to see if I can get darker. It’s not necessary though… this golden tan looks good I think. I used my Crest White Strips today. My teeth no longer hurt the past few times I’ve used them. I also went and got a Gold’s Gym pull up bar. It cost $45 but I’ve been neglecting myself for 2 months now. I ran the other day and I’m not going to start that up with any regularity but I do want to use that pull up bar on a regular basis. I was up to doing 10 slow chin ups easy… actually closer to 12. I’d do it a few times a day. I can barely do 5. I like this product as it takes a second to assemble and I can use it in any doorway. It’s not as good as a dedicated bar but you gotta make do with what you have sometimes.

I’ve been thinking. I’ve got a plan in the back of my head on how to use my vacation days. :-) :-) :-) Also, I’m trying to think of a way to constructively use my spare time. It’s hard to do when the depression swings around but perhaps it’ll help. I just have to come up with whatever “it” is.

Tomorrow I have to mail off some items I put on eBay. About half my stuff sold which is awesome.

In tech news, 802.11n was finally approved by the IEEE. It’s been in “draft” status for 7 years now. Most devices should work with the final version but it’s about time. I don’t know what red tape holds it back but improving on old standards is always better for everyone.

Morning Blues

Monday, September 7th, 2009

Actually, I’m not feeling too bad. I thought I might. Then again the morning has just begun, sort of. I woke up at 6 something and I had gotten a text from Ms. Sexy X. Awesome! She was kind enough to point out how much of a dork I am. She had told me that the season finale of True Blood was next week and there wasn’t an episode this week which I knew about because of her. Somehow last night I kept thinking there was going to be an episode. Don’t ask, I have no idea. But I did laugh at myself. I managed to sneak 2 hours more sleep in to 8:30AM. After that, I sort of slept for 2 more hours but that was hit or miss. Mainly, I was listening to the thunder outside. At one point I got startled because a jet came so low over the house, that never happens here. I thought it was crashing. It was probably trying to fly low under the storm so it could land at the airport across town. It stopped raining for now though more is coming I’m sure. There’s still plenty of thunder though I really haven’t seen any lightning. The backyard is flooding again as usual.

You know, it is a Monday, it’s raining, it’s morning, I haven’t talked with Ms. Sexy X in a week, my brother’s dog just died yesterday morning… and for all of that I’m not feeling depressed. I’m surprised but I’ll take it.

Nothing really happened yesterday except the aforementioned stuff. I just kept myself busy by cleaning all day. By nightfall I watched a movie, The Bourne Ultimatum. I still like the original the best but the 3rd was second best. I know they’re making a 4th, they have to given the ending. It probably wouldn’t hit theaters for at least 2 years since we know Matt Damon has signed a contract to make a 4th. Anyways, I digress.

I don’t have an update on Ms. Sexy X other than that. Just remember that True Blood’s Season 2 Finale is next Sunday!!

True Blood S02E11: Frenzy

Monday, August 31st, 2009

I’m going to take a different approach here. I don’t think my “review” was very good last time. It was more of a summation with comments sprinkled in. I’ll admit it wasn’t written for a stranger as there were spoilers and junk in it. Whatever. So I’m sticking with a similar format, it’s just more pronounced now.

  • Evan Rachel Wood plays a wimsical, happy go lucky queen. I know this is only the first episode with her but it seems to be a character mismatch. I envisioned a more refined queen and she was supposed to be really young. Honestly, I’m glad they made her older (though ERW still looks young) but it is a difference.
  • Erik flew in this episode. They didn’t make it look fake or anything but they didn’t focus on it either. I’m glad they added that element in as it comes in handy in the books. He also had a funny line asking if Sookie has asked about him. Unfortunately, we didn’t see much of him.
  • Sookie inquires about any side effects of drinking Erik’s blood after she learns from Lafayette that he had some. Lafayette mentions vivid fantasy/dreams which address a question I had earlier.
  • This episode was very slow and had a lot of filler dialogue that didn’t do anything for me. They made Jessica’s part small which sucks because I wanted to see what happened after she bit Hoyt’s mom. (Nothing happens!) Instead we get to see Maxine’s horribly crooked teeth and a pointless rant and rave between mother and son. Jason and Andy team up and have more boring dialogue though a few gems were thrown in like Jason complaining of Andy cockblocking him with a zombie woman. Now that’s funny, I don’t care who you are! Tara flips her mom into letting her go and she goes back under Mary Ann’s control along with Lafayette and that’s how the episode ends (with Sookie screaming, of course.)

That’s pretty much it, I really don’t have anything else. It was all about Mary Ann which is a boring storyline to begin with. I’m surely getting tired of this. Luckily, the season finale is coming up and hopefully they settle this and bring on the werewolves!

Loungin’

Friday, August 28th, 2009

I didn’t get my call last night. I don’t know if I’ll get one today either. Who knows? I’m feeling a little down today. I know why and it’s a stupid reason. Well, it’s not stupid but I’m telling myself it is so I get over it. I have to give myself a kick in the ass.

I’m just laying in bed all morning until I go into work. Fuck everything else. I’m tired. Nope, I’m not sleepy or weak. I’m just tired… maybe mentally. I’m watching Sports Center which gets repetitive quick. Fuck me.

I did go golfing yesterday. I regret cutting our conversation short badly. I have to get over that. I had already planned out this golf outing, not expecting her to call. I could have probably talked another hour or two with her. Sigh. And for what did I miss it? A horrible golf game. I suck at this sport but for some reason I keep wasting my money to play it. I’m an idiot of epic proportions. I didn’t care there, I just tried to have fun. I was goofing off on the tee box, on the greens, on the golf carts. It was actually fun in that regards. I rode on the side of the cart for the last 3 holes. My brother tried getting me to fall or run me into branches and shit. It didn’t work. I almost tipped the cart twice rocking.

What’s going on in the sports world? Jay Cutler is still a huge douche. He’ll never be good and I’m glad he got stuck with the Bears. Fuck him. I hope he gets boo’d out of Mile High Stadium this weekend.

Michael Vick played yesterday. I couldn’t watch the game but from the replays it looks like he’s still as mediocre as ever. It looked like McNabb was upset which I don’t really care since McNabb is exactly the same. This ought to be funny since they both think they’re awesome or something. Hopefully, they’ll be bickering all season long.

The Dallas Cowgirls have put up an obnoxiously huge TV in their new stadium and for some ingenious reason they didn’t consult any punters. You know, the guys that kick the ball super high. That would have been smart, huh Jerry? You’re an idiot, your whole organization is a joke. They just started figuring it out with their first game? You mean to tell me no one practiced even prior to that? Dole out the money to raise it up, it’s apparent you don’t have a problem to spend a ton already on an overrated but crappy team. No one wants to see replays over and over because a punter is doing his job. You’re going to delay games and make this shit reviewable. Good game.

Byron Leftwich had left the Steelers and apparently went to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the off season. I missed that one. It’s good for him and he looks like he’s doing well. He had some issues where he completely missed wide open guys but he’ll get it. I was impressed when he played backup after Batch and Roethlisberger got hurt last season. I like Dixon as well, either one could do a good job. I’m sure Leftwich will be the starter come season start.

Brandon Marshall got suspended from the team because he’s a grade ‘A’ asshole. He was aquitted of charges of battery on his girlfriend. That doesn’t mean he is innocent. He created this trouble for himself now he’s reaping what he sowed. Instead of coming back this season to show us a better side by keeping a good attitude, playing well, and keeping out of trouble he decides to skip the high road and just act like a little bitch which led to his suspension.

My weekend preview is Patriots play the Redskins tonight at 8PM EST on CBS. Sunday has the Bears going to Denver which ought to be interesting given the quarterbacks (on NBC, same time.) The game will most likely suck though. Houston will take on the Vikings Monday on ESPN once again at 8PM EST. Then you have UFC on Saturday night, Randy Couture is fighting Antonio Noguiera. Thiago Silva is taking on Keith Jardine as well. I’m going to go with Nog and Thiago as the winners.

The 11th episode of True Blood is Sunday night at 9PM EST. Just two left for the year. Damn.

And one quick rant. I HATE ESPN’s website where the stupid video players automatically start. I’m on wireless and it just bogs me down. I can push play if I want to see that crap and trust me when I say I don’t.

Can my day get any awesomer? I doubt it. Fuck all.

True Blood S02E10: New World in My View

Monday, August 24th, 2009

We start off in a dream sequence of Sookie’s. She’s had a little bit of blood from Eric Northman and now she wants to bone him. I guess the reason her desire is stronger for Eric than Bill Compton is because Eric’s blood is supposedly 900 years older. Okay, I can go with that but tell me why Lafayette, the gay black dude that drank a BUNCH of Eric’s blood, doesn’t fantasize about getting jiggy with him? I know, I know I’m being too technical.

The trio come back to Bon Temp to find it ravished and the people roaming wild with big, black eyes. It’s chaos and they head to Bill’s. They find Hoyt, his possessed mom, and Jessica holed up there. Speaking of Hoyt and Andy, why are they the only two unpossessed in that town? Anyways, Maxine is talking dirty and whatnot so they entertain her with the Wii. Ha, imagine vampires owning Wiis. Anyways, that’s when they figure out it’s Maryann and they start to piece together she’s the one that attacked Sookie. (Since they’ve been out of town the whole time and apparently never get a phone call.) Also, she’s shacking up at Sookie’s house. Of course they go over there only to find it is infested with jungle shit. Her house is ruined for all intents and purposes. I’d be PISSED! Who does that? Ah, well it is fiction. Whatever. There they have a dramatic meet and greet with the maenad herself. Bill bites her and immediately becomes sick from her blood. Sookie tries to act all tough but gets bitch slapped against the wall. In the meantime she saw some of Maryann’s thoughts and confirmed she was the one that clawed her. Then she used some sort of power to shove Maryann away. Is Rogue coming back? Ha, I’m kidding! That stunned Maryann but more by intrigue than anything else. We hear the familiar line “what are you” a few times from her mouth. They run off to go to Lafayette’s. I’m trying to figure out what Sookie did. I hope they don’t give her any more special powers. Mindreading seems a little weak but that’s all that she is and that actually makes her very special to all the supes. Giving her more powers seems to degrade that. Blah.

At Lafayette’s they have this whole little sequence where Bill has to glamor Tara while Sookie reads her thoughts simultaneously and once she gets those memories, suddenly Tara snaps out of it. Riiiight. She babbles something about Eggs but Lafayette is wisely keeping her there. Bill and Sookie discuss the incident and she mentions the Latin everyone keeps spouting and Bill remembers reading about maenads so therefore deducts what she is from that. He says he must go meet someone who will know while Sookie should just stay there. Okay, so they just now discover what she is. And she knows they’re after Sam Merlotte. Does Bill really think she’ll stay put? Can you say “disaster?”

Meanwhile, Sam and Andy Bellefleur get trapped in the cooler at Merlotte’s while a bunch of the zombie folk party outside. This scene is rather stupid if you ask me. They just kind of wait there and party which I guess is the main side effect of Maryann’s spell but you’d think they’d try harder. I guess not. Why doesn’t Sam shapeshift to get away? He’s tired of running he says. Jason comes with a chainsaw and nail gun as if that’ll do anything. He soon realizes that. It’d work if he was willing to use them but he was not. Weak. He releases Sam and Andy only to get surrounded again and Sam gives himself up. They take Sam to the roof of a car to tie him there. Uhhhh, why? Who knows. I guess these are stupid zombies especially if Jason can fool them in the next scene by pretending to be a god by donning a gas mask and work gloves and holding two flares. It was comical, I’ll give it that much even if it was dumb. I like Jason’s character in that regards. Sam turns into a fly to further the ruse. Okay, so if he was sooo willing to sacrafice himself for all others, why did he aide in his own escape? I don’t know. Jason and Andy are confused when he walks back in naught but an apron. Ladies watching might like that scene. I’ll admit, I didn’t like Sam’s character at first, he seemed too laid back like a Ron Livingston type. It works with the character and I do like it now.

One other new twist thrown in is Jessica feeds on Hoyt’s mom after the bitch keeps talking smack about her son and Jessica. AWWWESOME! I have no idea how that’ll go but I’m stoked!

The episode ends with Bill going to the Queen Vampire of Louisiana.

It looks as if the rest of the season is building up to killing off Maryann. That works for me. Maenads are supposed to be too hard to kill so perhaps they just scare her off. I’m not sure. In the books they just pay tribute for her to move on. So does this set up Bill to disappear to Mississippi for the next season? That means the werewolves are coming! What’s the queen look like? Does she give him this side job now if she helps him here? Quid pro quo, maybe?

I thought the zombie stuff is stupid and that’s the majority of the episode. Despite that, I did like this particular episode as they did seem to move the storyline along somewhat.

True Blood S02E09: I Will Rise Up

Monday, August 17th, 2009

This episode starts off with a bang. Okay, corny pun… what-the-fuck-ever!

Bill tells Lorena to get lost and then Sookie’s dream sequence later on has Lorena saying Sookie doesn’t love Bill, etc. I see the start of the Mississippi plot going on here, where Lorena will kidnap Bill and the werewolves will finally come into play. Yay!

Eric finally forms the bond with Sookie in just about the same way as the book. Of course he is smiling and I laughed at the joke where he could tell her (angry) emotions. I still don’t like the fact that Lafayette dranks his blood but we’ll see where that storyline takes us. It may turn out pretty good. Kind of like having Bill stake Longshadow instead of Eric, it formed the Jessica storyline with Hoyt but I like that one. I wouldn’t think a torn hymen would be that big of a deal, I figured vampires don’t feel pain or they like it. Maybe because she is such a new vampire she still feels a lot of pain. I don’t know.

I liked the little dialogue the Newlins had on TV. Steve has a welt on his forehead from the paintball and then they bicker at each other. They’re both playing crazy very well. I’m impressed.

Lafayette started wising up in the last episode about Tara and Eggs. When he sees her bruised he goes off! It’s about time. He and Tara’s mom bust in on them later on and take Tara away. Maryann does her hummingbird thing and puts Tara and Eggs under that spell but for some reason she lets Tara get carted off. Not before Lafayette puts a beatdown on Eggs though. :-)

This whole Maryann plotline is getting dumb though. I wish she’d just move on. What’s the point? She has it in for Sam. Somehow Andy is going to help him. Then she busts in on the bar and puts them all under a trance. Ooookay. Tell me why she can’t sense another supe when Sam is crawling around on the table as a fly? It seems to me almost all the other supes can tell when another one is nearby.

I really liked the end scene where Godric goes to meet the sun. The dialogue was actually kind of touching. I thought they did very well. Him bursting into flames could have been done a little better I thought but I suppose being such an old vampire makes him go extremely quick.

True Blood S02E08: Timebomb

Tuesday, August 11th, 2009

Where to start on this one?

First let me review the whole Maryann plot. I’m not sure where they’re going with this hummingbird. In the books the maenad just moves on. Here she’s just staying. What’s with Tara and Eggs just eating straight from the pot? What the hell? And how are they not going to question the blood (would there even be that much left after cooking??) Okay, I get that she makes people mad but that plot line is just getting stupid. I can’t stand to see those two doing it again either. He reminds me of a big gorilla which isn’t too becoming for a black man. Oh well. And let’s lance that mole off, mmmkay? I can’t take her seriously if that’s all I’m staring at.

A few things got me in this episode. I understand they’re branching from the book some as Godric didn’t meet the sun here. Stan is supposed to be sheriff and then king of Texas eventually but the power structure is the same, lest that bomb takes Godric out. How does a nest of vamps not sense that guy coming in? They have superior hearing and smelling and vision so they’d know if a human came in. And what’s with Jason not only being there but being all lovey with Bill? They didn’t punish Hugo or his vamp… okay fine. But she’s showing way too much emotion. Even Bill who loves Sookie is still unemotional in some sense. Vampires are supposed to be like that and she’s crying just like Lorena. Don’t turn this into a soap opera.

I think the guy that plays Steve Newlin is doing a damned good job. He plays the crazy nut perfectly. Sara does too but not nearly as good as he.

Just get me to the werewolves already. :-) I bet that’s end of this season or in the next season.

There’s a lot of things different from the books. That’s understandable, generally speaking it is an adaptation. There is a lot of material in the books and I’m not sure why they can’t stick closer to it. I know they need filler. But keeping Lafayette? Okay so he’s popular. But having him drink Eric’s blood? According to the books, no one has done that in close to a thousand years except for Sookie, so there’s big significance behind that. Offering it up to him wouldn’t have happened.

We’ll see how this goes. I’m guessing the bomb doesn’t detonate or if it does perhaps Godric is so fast he takes him out that glass door and takes the explosion and that’s how they kill him. 6 more days. Ugh.
