My Beautiful Disaster

This episode starts off with a laugh, the boys are teasing the prospect about his lack of a nut since one was blown off in Iraq. He informs them that he’s getting a prosthetic ball called a “neuticle” or some shit.

Gemma puts a face to one of the rapists and is about to go off. Unser being the clueless dunce that he is goes in and threatens Zobelle. Gemma has an opportunity and a Glock to kill one of the whities. She chickens out as he is talking to his son on the phone.

Bobby takes his fatboy motorcycle that backfires so loud and blows so much smoke that Tig crashes his bike along with another biker. They take him to a Kaiser hospital where they tell him he’s got to go to another hospital for insurance purposes. This little chinese girl calls a bounty hunter she knows and I guess Tig has a warrant out because they came in a van and took him. Okay, what person would do that? How quick are these guys to kidnap him that quick? I must say the rescue was pretty sweet. So Clay and Jax explode for a moment and then a few of the guys get on the flatbed and bust down the wall and take them by surprise. The looks on the bounty hunters’ faces was priceless. I don’t think they cared at that point about losing Tig.

 This whole episode works up to Opie siding with Clay (can you say “irony?”) with it coming to a head in a chat between Prez and Veep. Jax mentions he doesn’t know how to deal with Clay’s part in ordering a hit on Opie and killing Donna and Clay tells him he better get used to it and if he mentions it one more time, he’ll kill Jax. Wow, where does it escalate from here?

One last thing, maybe because I’m a dork, I love the previews for that new show “The League.” I’ve done fantasy football quite a few times though I’m not in a league this year. I don’t like how people get all in it and don’t give a shit about the game. I much rather watch the game and I think the fantasy football leagues compliment them. But I can see the humor in making fun of those fair weather nerds. :-D

The episode started off like expected, Gemma is freaking out and not having sex due to the rape but she still won’t tell anyone. The tension rises between Clay and her into a fight in the parking lot of the porn studio. It doesn’t mend over when they try to talk about it later, she just brushes him off.

Clay makes a unilateral decision with Bobby which ticks Jax off and a bit of tension arises and it comes out the guys are noticing. Jax is playing a porno bunny along but Tara gets jealous. She gets her vengence at the end by not fighting that girl but instead spreading her legs for Jax for the girl to walk in on and see. Ouch! I say go Tara but that is certainly unorthodox. To me, Jax should be the one standing up for Tara in the first place. He’s hurting her feelings and he knows it.

The big thing is Opie noticing meth dealers on the street so the club figures out the Aryans are bringing drugs in under Darby and the Nords. The club feeds Deputy Chief Hale some credible intel on the location of the meth house. He investigates and talks with the Aryan leader again and tells Jax the intel didn’t check out which let the club know he’s in cahoots with the other guy. Clay let Unser in on the deal so that he knows Hale is dirty as well, especially when they investigate the explosion.

Bobby finds that Luanne is skimming the books and cheated the club out of some major cash. It’s not clear whether he’ll tell the club yet or not but I’m betting on the former despite what sexual favors she’s trading with him.

Opie is showing his wrecklessness again, almost going after two armed skinheads before being pulled back and then again by setting off the bombs to blow the meth house without using a remote detonator and almost gets blown up. He’s on full tilt just like Gemma. This episode was rather a bit slow. I find myself impatient and wishing they’d go faster… I just hate waiting.

I don’t expect the Jax/Clay thing to rear it’s head but I do expect an outburst by Gemma and a resolution to that (at least the beginning of one.) I also anticipate Tara and that one chick having a fight or maybe a fight with Jax. Bobby will also tell Clay and then Otto will find out about Bobby. Ah the joys of revenge.

How does one read the title of this episode? The obvious would be in relation to the tearing in Gemma’s vagina from the rape. But could one read that as the tears running down her cheeks? I’ll bet it’s a play on words.

Both Tara and Unser come to Gemma’s aid after the rape. They know of it but not what happened. Gemma turns to Tara in this time, maybe because she’s partially connected to her through her son. She’s using the fact that Tara’s a doctor to her obvious advantage but now Tara has put herself in a position to lie and cut corners to help her which will strengthen the bond and put Gemma in her debt. An interesting power play occurs here as it does between Clay and Jax.

Clay finds out from Alvarez that their Mayan was killed by a Niner. Remember how Jax shot out his gut to cover up the SOA mark in his belly? Well he also posed the body to hold up nine fingers and set off a beef between the two. The Mayans want guns but Clay tells him he has none. Instead he goes to the Niners and sells them 24 AK-47s. Clay is not happy about this unilateral direction Jax took and Jax rubs it in his face by telling him it was “spur of the moment” as he keeps reminding him of being implicit in Donna’s death. We actually see the two square off in the clubhouse at the end of the episode with Clay welcoming a challenge. So the battle heats up. What accelerates this is the fact that Jax made a popular decision of teaming up with the local porno queen to erase debt and actually get legitimate money flowing. Clay is weary about branching out as that means the club is getting sloppy or desperate. However, all the guys back Jax.

The porno bit comes into play because another guy is taking advantage of an ATF raid by trying to lure all her girls through threats and higher pay. Jax and the crew end up roughing those guys up.

The whole crew goes to the gun buy in some alley. The Niners exchange guns and money when everything goes to hell because the Mayans ambushed them. Bobby gets hit and some black dude does. A truck with Mayans speeds up to grab the guns and Clay tells them to let them go so no one else gets hurt. Opie stands up with the thousand yard stare and walks out like he’s Jesus and guns down both Mayans in the back then everyone retreats. Opie is looking like he’s going mad or suicidal or both which means he’s getting wreckless. Here we go!

Some other observations: Tara had Jax open up last episode but now Tara is hiding Gemma’s rape from him. Can you see the fight coming now? That one white supremacist is super annoying as he looks like he has a bone shoved up his ass the whole time. The main supremacist leader is talking with the Mayan leader, giving him the tip on the gun buy which sets them up for the ambush. Ohhh, so now he’s in cahoots with the mexicans… that ought to rile up Mr. Bone-In-Ass. Also, Tig tries to comfort Opie by talking about a former wife of his although I’m not sure if he’s making it up or not. Opie speaks of the pain (and does a great acting job here if you ask me.) Tig shows hurt because he’s the cause of that pain and here he is working side by side with him. I think Tig might be going down a road of despair soon.

Two things bugged me and both were at the beginning of the episode. Remember my favorite song? “Ruby Tuesday” by the Rolling Stones… well they have Katey Sagal sing this. I’m sorry but I could go without her singing ever again especially butchering that song. It didn’t have the soul in it. The other thing was Unser “shooting a lock out.” Come on now, does anyone believe that shit actually works?

Jax pushes Clay about him having Tig kill Donna, Opie’s wife. But to save Opie the confusion and mayhem it would cause if he learned the truth, Jax wisely keeps it under wraps and goes with the charade that Clay has planned by letting Opie kill a patsy. What could possibly go wrong there? Well, Jax didn’t dispose of the body like he said he would. That would eventually get back to Op. Then there’s the tension that he’ll pick up on between Pres and VP. Things will fall in place for him after a while.

Gemma advises Tara to either get fully in or out as her relationship will not work otherwise. Tara confronts Jax and he admits to help killing that patsy. She seems to accept it but she starts down a road that she may not want to travel.

Some new white supremacist group wants in on Charming. Why, I don’t know. But they’re pushing the local Nords to start amassing for a takeover and meanwhile trying to convince SOA to stop supplying the minorities with weapons. Clay declines and threatens to shoot the leader if he makes threats again. So what do they do to retaliate? Why… they kidnap Gemma and rape her of course. I really didn’t want to see that, I mean it barely showed the scene but my blood always boils on that shit. I don’t care if it’s fake, I hate it. Of course they pass a message on to her and she notices a tat of a peace symbol on his chest. (Ironic, huh?) We know that’s one dead motherfucker.

And that’s how the show ends. Damn.
