Let Me Be Blount

Where to start today? Oh, I’ll get  to the sports news in a minute.

Yesterday I was feeling really worried. I called, texted, and emailed Ms. Sexy X. I got nothing. I had to go to work at noon. Sigh. I was texting a friend when I went in and at 1201 I’m wondering why he just blew up my phone with 3 text messages in a row. As I opened it I realized only one was from him and the other two were from Ms. Sexy X. FINALLY! The message was a double but it was an important update. I’m not sure why she didn’t update me a lot sooner but it made sense. I don’t know. I was still feeling down. She surprised me by sending a picture later in the day and that made me super excited. She knows how to make me happy. :-)

After work I went to my friends house where we grilled some hotdogs and had chili cheese fries. I got the Nathan’s brand on MSX’s suggestion and they were very good. They were juicy and tasty and on sale but normally expensive. I think it’s very similar to the Angus Ballparks except the latter tends to have a tad bit of a spice or taste to it… I can’t explain that but can taste it.  I was stuffed. We watched the Boise State vs Oregon game. That game was PAINFUL to watch. BSU was just ramrodding Oregon but they couldn’t finish. They missed two field goals so after their first score they opted to run a two point conversion which worked wonderfully. There were a lot of fumbles in this game and a pick or two. Boise State would find a way to put Oregon in a great position instead of sealing the deal. Oregon, however, managed to find a way to fuck up every single time. They just kept shooting themselves in the foot. They didn’t even get a fucking first down until 3 minutes left in the 3rd quarter. What about their star running back LeGarrette Blount? He was sitting at negative yardage on about 8 carries. Does that name sound familiar? It might. He’s the one that promised an “ass whoopin” earlier in the week. He’s also the one that’s all over SportsCenter now. Not for his play… no he had a horrible negative 5 yards on carries for the game. It was his attitude afterwards where a Bronco linebacker (Byron Hout) gave Blount a sarcastic (taunting) pat on the back. Blount turned around and cold cocked him in the jaw dropping Hout out. What the hell? Then he was getting into fights with his teammates who were trying to calm him down. As he walked by the stands, the BSU fans jeered him and he turned around and almost went into the stands. He had to be pulled back and escorted by staff and cops. I swear he pushed a cop too. What class. His apology afterwords rang hollow. I hope he’s suspended the rest of the year.

There were some good plays in the NFL. Michael Vick can return by the 3rd week. He ran in a touchdown against the Jets. He also threw a pick. The Pittsburg Steelers’ new run specialist Stefan Logan ran one to the house yesterday. He’s already proving his value. I think he has potential for – dare I say - FOUR TD returns this season and major yardage on top of that. He’s small and fast and with our special teams making holes… it’s over!

I’m sure other things happened yesterday. There were two impressive one handed picks on the college level that you can find on SC’s top ten list. College ball officially kicked off with that game last night. Saturday is looking solid with a line up of Ohio State & Navy (really? Will the triple option and cuts hurt OSU?)  then the Georgia & Oklahoma State plays. After THAT, you can watch Brigham Young & Oklahoma and there’s even one more game – Alabama & Virginia Tech! The highlight reel will be smoking that night, I bet.

I’m trying to keep a positive outlook on things here. I don’t have a college team but I do love watching a good game. The weather is fine, not too hot nor too cold. I have a persistent cough that’s annoying the fuck outta me. Luckily, it seems I’ve stopped coughing up phlegm. Blah. I’m still a bit worried and I’m definitely lonely and I miss her so much. This is hard on me. What to do, what to do?

Here’s a GREAT sign that made me laugh during the Oregon/BSU game. It’s extremely appropriate given how badly the Ducks sucked it up.

Oh, My, My. Oh, Hell Yes!

I woke up late today (9:30!!) It’s weird. I’m not even sure what I’ve done this morning. I do know that I took a shower and I got a call right before I got out. It was a blocked number. They went to voicemail but hung up. Confused, I called Ms. Sexy X thinking maybe she called. I left a voicemail. I texted her as well. I called again 10 minutes later only to be sent straight to voicemail. I was dismayed. For some reason I gave it one more shot 4 minutes later and it rang. Well, I guess she was just in a bad spot. But I still didn’t expect her to answer. To my surprise she did. We got to talk for 20 minutes before she had to go. I’m happy! :-) Turns out she didn’t call so I have no idea who did. That makes me wonder a little bit. She said she’d call back after an hour or so, if she could. It’s been 1.5 hours. Either her thing is going longer than anticipated or something came up. She may still call yet. :-) If not, it’s alright.

I’ve been watching the NCIS marathon on USA. I love that show. It reminds me somewhat of JAG, I was a huge fan of that as well.

I’m getting impatient. For what? For everything. I just have to wait. It’s all whatever. I’m going to go eat a roast beef sandwich and have a Pepsi now. Yum!

I’m Going Hunnnngry, Yeah!

I made a delicious lasagna in a crockpot. It was really good. I use the word “was” not because I ate it all but because I ruined it. Apparently, keeping it on warm all day won’t preserve it, it’ll actually dry it out. That changed the flavor and now it sucks. I did get to eat 1/4 of it but I wasted so much that I’m pissed off. It’s dry and tastes nasty. Fuck, I was trying to be all smart about it too. I haven’t used a crockpot in a coon’s age either. Arrrgh!

Right now my dinner consists of a Pepsi and a bagel. Fucking right! I’m in bed, lonely and cold. I turned on ESPN just now to have some background noise. Anyone ever do that? That’s about all I ever use the TV for anymore. NFL season starts up soon but I can get that on basic channels.

Tiger Woods still holds the lead after the second round of the PGA Championship. Watching the replays, it’s obvious why he’s the best. His short game is awesome. He’s looking more like his pre-injury self which is a surprise to me. We’ll see if it holds 2 more days. He can shank a drive and it won’t matter but around the greens is where his wins are made.

Silva vs Griffin

This may be the co-main event but that’s the fight I’m sure everyone was looking foward to. We had to sit through 3 different fights of ground and pound, it wasn’t too bad but it was pretty obvious who the winners would be. The third fight was called way too early in my humble opinion. While Hendricks got some serious licks on Amir, he was attempting to get up and I think he would have. How much longer he would have lasted, I can’t say.

Anderson Silva came out dancing around like the spider monkey he is. He’s ridiculous. They both danced around a bit with Griffin testing him out but it was no contest all the way. Silva taunted him every step of the way, even helping him up at one point. He had at least 3 chances to go in and finish but it was easy to see he was holding back to give a longer fight to the fans. This man is crazy good and fast. He completely left his guard down within striking distance of Griffin (what a taunt/challenge, right?) He just casually evaded two hooks and while leaning back glances Griffin on the chin with practically no weight behind the punch and Forrest just crumples to the ground. He fucking knocked him out in an embarrassing way. We’ve all seen how good Forrest is with public relations so that tells you something when he gets up and practically runs out of the fucking octagon and arena before Buffer can announce the winner. Wow.

I think Machida is the only contender, he’s very fast and I think speed is the key to getting Silva. I won’t even be brave enough to say that he can take Silva down though, as Anderson is simply the best out there right now.

The BJ Penn fight was fairly interesting. It lasted 4 rounds before he choked Florian the fuck out. I’ll give Kenny props for lasting that long but every round seemed to sway in BJ’s favor fairly easily. It was a good fight in my opinion and obviously the main event since it was for a title. But I still think the Silva fight outshines it easily.

I can see Silva fighting again soon since he literally took only one soft punch. Maybe we’ll see him as soon as UFC 104 or 105.

It was a good night, I stuffed myself with 2 burgers, 2 hotdogs, 2 Killians, a Jager bomb (yuck as usual,) and some chips/dip.

Bad luck all around

I’m not the only one with bad luck. Well, I guess I don’t believe in luck, per se, but I still use the phrase. Hey, I’m part Irish so I have to “believe” in it just a wee lil’ bit. I know I’m just being silly.

I’ll get to the luck thing in a minute. Let me start off by saying that I haven’t had chest pains since whenever I posted about it last (not counting the other day but it was a different pain and not stress related I don’t think. Maybe indigestion?? I don’t know.) I also haven’t cried since… maybe Sunday but Saturday for sure. That’s a good thing of sorts. I’m a guy and naturally I don’t care to cry even in private. It’s most definitely a pride thing and I think most people in general - man or woman - would agree. I feel good in some respects like I’m not down but then how could I not be? It’ll be back I’m sure but I’m enjoying the serenity of the moment for now. Oh, I miss her every fucking second of every fucking day. I lament as to why I can’t be with her now. Blah, blah, blah, whine, whine, whine. Yeah, tell me about it as if I don’t fucking know already. But as this is my blog I’ll do whatever the hell I want. ;-) The point of it is for me so hush!

Work was short yesterday. I had my share of problems and I was busy the whole night. It sucked because I planned on taking a huge break and leaving early. That so didn’t happen. I didn’t get the last break (not that I was supposed to) nor could I sneak out early. It was just one person after another. One lady had scanned so many pictures in by the time I got there and the machine reset randomly so she lost the whole order. I laughed because I couldn’t help it. The lady was very good natured about it and was laughing too so it’s not like I’m just a jackass. (HUSH! :-D) She rescanned 80 of them and submitted them except she did it wrong and only got 1 print. At that point in the night I’m closing down and I surely laughed again. Poor woman, now THAT is the bad luck I’m referring too. I have my own set of “bad luck” but I guess I just spread that pain around. :-S We laughed about it and that was the highlight of my night, but I use the word “highlight” carefully here because I don’t want to see someone’s time wasted so absurdly like that.

After work I went to eat at a bar type place. Their menu reflected bar pricing on drinks and food which is to say it’s crazy expensive. The sandwich was $10 and alright but surely not worth that much. The beer was Guinness which is always delicious. I had a Young’s Double Chocolate Stout which was positively horrible. To me it tried imitating an Irish Car Bomb but fails and leaves me with a bad aftertaste, almost like the Jameson whiskey. That could be good or bad depending on how you like that. I’m not opposed to whiskey flavor but something wasn’t right here. I also had a “Black Barrel” as they called it. It’s a Black and Tan, the tan portion being “Kentucky Bourbon Ale.” If you’ve never had that, that shit is stout. I guess they let the ale finish fermenting in used whiskey barrels which adds flavor and alcohol to it (I think.) That was an interesting drink. All that shit cost me way too much but I was just trying to give my self a night off to have fun. It was though it made me miss my Ms. Sexy X even moreso.
